Fenders hang in plain sight every time you tie up, so they’re part of how your boat looks at the dock. Boat fender covers give them a finished, custom look, and when the covers get dirty, they come off for a wash.
Finding covers that fit properly is essential. A loose cover sags, bunching up near the waterline. A cover that is too tight strains the fabric seams and leaves part of the fender showing. AERÉ Fenda-Sox® covers are engineered to deliver a precise fit across a wide range of fender types, sizes, and brands, and AERÉ makes custom boat fender covers when no stock size matches.
Stock Sizes and Universal Compatibility
If you run standard AERÉ inflatable fenders, matching them to Fenda-Sox is straightforward. Stock covers are tailored to exact fender dimensions, from 9-inch diameters up to 4-foot fenders, with covers for AERÉ ball and mat fenders.
You do not need AERÉ-branded fenders to use Fenda-Sox. Stock Fenda-Sox fit Polyform HTM, G, F and A-Series fenders, plus their Taylor Made equivalents: Big B (HTM), Super Gard (G) and Tuff End (F). AERÉ also makes neoprene and knit covers to fit ProStock Marine fenders, the AERÉ Prostock PF Series Fenda-Sox NEO and AERÉ Prostock PF Series Fenda-Sox KNIT. For other fender brands, AERÉ makes custom covers to your measurements, as explained below.
When selecting covers for your vessel, remember that covers are sized to the fender, and fenders are sized to your boat’s length. If you are still choosing fenders, start with the AERÉ Fender Size Guide, and plan on at least three fenders on most cruising boats.
Choosing the Right Fabric: Polyester Knit vs. Neoprene
Fenda-Sox covers are available in two heavy-duty marine fabrics designed for specific docking conditions and aesthetic preferences.
Polyester Knit:
This fabric is produced in the United States using yarn made from recycled plastic bottles. The soft, heavy-duty knit material protects delicate paint and gelcoat finishes. Each polyester knit cover features an adjustable drawstring on one end and a finished fit on the other, allowing you to secure the cover tightly over the fender body. Polyester knit covers are available in multiple standard colors, including black, navy blue, gray, burgundy, and sand.
Neoprene:
Neoprene covers have a sleek, modern look and won’t stretch out or absorb water. AERÉ Fenda-Sox NEO covers for AERÉ fenders fit snugly over both ends of the fender without drawstrings, producing a smooth, streamlined profile. NEO covers made for other brands’ fenders, including the ProStock NEO cover, have a finished top end and a drawstring at the bottom. Neoprene Fenda-Sox are available in black, gray, and navy blue across popular fender series.
Measuring Non-AERÉ Fenders for Custom Boat Fender Covers
When AERÉ does not carry a standard stock size for your specific fender model, custom boat fender covers can be manufactured to your exact specifications. Review the Non-AERÉ Fender Measurement Guide to ensure your custom covers fit correctly upon delivery. Its form is also where you request a quote for a custom cover.
To measure your fender for a custom order:
- Measure the length end to end, from the outside edge of one seam to the outside edge of the other, not including any contoured ends.
- Measure the circumference at each end and at the center of the fender body, on the inside edge of any contoured ends.
- Measure each end contour, and take a photo of the fender to upload with your quote request.
- Record the fender manufacturer and model number if available.
Once you have your dimensions, submit the details through that form. The production team reviews your measurements and builds covers tailored specifically to your gear.
Personalizing Your Setup with Custom Embroidery
Embroidery takes the finished look of your covers one step further. It is available on your new AERÉ Fenda-Sox purchase in both polyester knit and neoprene cover options. You can personalize either cover type with your boat name, company logo, or custom graphics.
AERÉ uses marine-grade thread designed to withstand prolonged sun exposure and saltwater environments. Adding custom embroidery ensures your fender setup looks intentional and unmistakably yours whenever you tie up at the marina.
To request embroidery on your new Fenda-Sox, submit your artwork or text through the Custom Embroidery for Fenda-Sox Covers page, along with your fender size and, for non-AERÉ fenders, the brand. The team reviews your design, contacts you within one business day, and confirms final details and pricing with you. No payment is required when you submit the form, and production begins only after you approve the design and price, so give custom orders a little extra time.
Proper Installation and Maintenance
Installing Fenda-Sox correctly ensures a tight, professional fit that will not shift. Fenda-Sox 101 covers the method in more detail.
For the best installation results:
- Deflate your fender completely before installing the cover.
- Slide the Fenda-Sox cover over the deflated fender body, making sure it sits evenly on all sides.
- Reinflate the fender to its proper working pressure (1 to 2 PSI for AERÉ inflatable fenders). As the fender expands, it fills the cover for a smooth, snug fit.
Keeping custom boat fender covers clean extends fabric life and protects your hull finish. Both polyester knit and neoprene covers are machine washable. Wash covers using fresh water only. Avoid bleach or harsh chemical cleaners, as these degrade the fabric’s UV protection and fade the color.

A properly fitted cover prevents fabric bunching and ensures complete hull protection.
- Consult the AERÉ Fender Size Guide to match your boat length to the correct fender volume.
- Equip most cruising boats with a minimum of three properly sized fenders.

Bare fenders accumulate dirt and salt that transfer directly to your hull during constant tidal movement. Adding covers provides distinct docking advantages:
- Prevents friction damage and unsightly scuff marks on the fiberglass.
- Hides aging or discolored fender materials to maintain a premium dockside look.
- Allows for simple removal and machine washing when the fabric becomes dirty.
